Robert Brasher Left His Legacy 1964-2019

One of the greatest impressionists of this region has passed. Robert Brasher was a pure impressionist, the most loved style in art history. His talent is compared to world stage artists Ben Aronson and Jeremy Mann.

Brasher was inspired by his city and surroundings which then inspired a lot of artists and his work admirers. NW Indiana and Chicago are honored to have such talent.

His clients expressed his style beautifully in the following statements:

“Obviously Robert Brasher’s paintings are beautiful. Many of my favorite pieces reflect his love of Chicago and the city’s many moods. Robert’s work is also very thoughtful. The brushstrokes convey a mixture of styles, both representative and impressionistic, which seem to encourage his audiences to contemplatively view the art from many different lenses.” Victoria Rosenberg Frazer.

“I bought the painting for a young adult friend in the hope that as his life unfolds he will find solace and inspiration in the solidity of Mr. Brasher’s iron bridges in which I see represented an active participation in the hard work of existence from the honesty of the river which just ebbs and flows predictably regardless of the vagaries of the surface.” Charles Niblick

“My dear friend Brasher was truly gifted. He loved poetry, music, and literature. His art is moving, it evokes emotions through textures and colors. Every time I look at his collection, it captivates me.” Joy Vlamakis

Robert Brasher had studied at several universities in the Chicagoland area. These include the Art Institute of Chicago, Indiana University, Purdue University, Loyola University, and Roosevelt University. He had received several art scholarships leading to his Bachelor’s Degree. He won the Gonska Award for exhibiting exceptional creative potential from Loyola, the Smith Scholarship from the Art Institute of Chicago, the Mulcahy Scholarship from Loyola University were among the awards attained during his college career.

Robert has had more than 30 one man shows all across the country. Twenty plus in the Chicagoland area, Chapel Hill, Dallas, Carmel, Ca, for example. He has work in Canada, Australia, Istanbul Turkey, and many European countries. His work was featured in the movies “Flight” and Disney’s “Man with the Million Dollar Arm”, filmed in Atlanta.

I would like to finish this attribute in Robert Brasher’s words:

“To paint in a manner that is abstract, yet still coveys a realistic subject requires complete confidence. As a young man, I would sit for 8-10 hours for an evening drawing, it usually took 5 hours of continuous work until that “flow” state engaged, where time doesn’t exist, and your ego is no longer involved, as if channeling your Higher Self. Once those dues are paid, painting becomes pure joy, one begins to see the elements behind the obvious, the inner quiet that allows the spirit to flow.”

Price for an Artwork – Same Everywhere

How do you know if you are getting the BEST PRICE for an Original Art? I’ve been in the art world for many years. I know the pricing. It is the BIG secret!

The truth is the price is the same everywhere. Brand name artists double/triple the value of their work compared to local artists. Museum level artists are for wealthy Investors. Art agents offer comparable pricing.

Bottom line: You won’t find good original artwork for less than $500. Large pieces may even reach the $10,000 mark. Here is how to start looking for art when it comes to price.

I find remarkable art from talented artists. Living artists are at mid-price range and world masters are at high point.

Post-Mass-Production

I had a client who bought a cheap mass-produced print every year to hang above her fireplace. She gets tired of an image in a year! 🤣 of course, right?

Would you get tired of Chagall?

She bought not one, but 3 artworks from me by the same artist! Art should enrich you, not make you tired…

My client is a new collector in this Post-Mass-Production-Art Era. I have so many clients who are replacing cheap prints with sustainable fresh unique art.

You are in the middle of a NEW ART ERA!
